Headaches and Fragrance
In our very first blog post this year, we mentioned cleaning up the air in your home and workspace for better health. Do you use any of the following in your home or workspace?
- Air freshener plug-ins and/or sprays
- Scented candles
- Fragranced dryer sheets
- Perfumes and/or colognes
- Scented body lotions
- Other chemically scented home and body product
We unknowingly load our homes with potent toxins when we use any of the above or other products with chemical fragrance. The volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in these products can cause migraine headaches, asthma attacks, breathing and respiratory difficulties, dermatitis, and neurological problems. Many chemical fragrances contain endocrine disruptors and carcinogens!
So yes, you may need an adjustment if you’re suffering from headaches or migraines. We absolutely can and have helped so many people find relief from these symptoms. But if you suffer from headaches or migraines and you have any of these items in your environment, it’s probably time to make some swaps!
Going fragrance-free all the way is a great option. Avoid products with “fragrance” or “perfume” as ingredients. Look for the label “fragrance-free.” If you really can’t live without a little something fragrant, go with natural essential oils. There are high quality lotions and candles made with them, and you can get a diffuser and some of your favorite essential oils for your home or office. We even sell a few fan favorites here in our office!
Let us know if you have ditched the chemical fragrances and if it’s made a difference for you! I know it has for me.
