Try Yoga for Back Pain

I recently heard a patient in our office wonder aloud why they needed to do leg stretches when they came to us specifically for treatment of lower back pain. The short answer? It’s all connected.

Most people don’t realize that much of their lower back issues are coming from tight glutes and hamstrings. Tight hamstrings can actually pull on the pelvis, causing it to tilt backward and thereby altering the alignment of your pelvis. And tight glutes can inhibit the proper functioning of the back extensors, which leads to poor posture and increased pressure on the lower back. Can Dr. Boggs and/or Dr. Gray treat the ensuing misalignments with an adjustment? Absolutely! But what happens when you are chronically tight in the hams and glutes? Yep, everything gets pulled right back out of place again, and we are back to Pain City.

But what would you do if there was a practice you could engage in that would create the flexibility in your hamstrings and glutes (and other places in your body where you want to be flexible), as well as strengthen muscles and improve your posture and balance? Well, there is one, and we now offer it at Boggs Chiropractic! Enter: YOGA!

Yoga is a time-honored practice that strengthens your mind-body-breath connection and offers a host of physical and mental benefits, ranging from increased strength and flexibility to elevated mood to calm mind to injury reduction and prevention and so much more.

Because I work with your friendly neighborhood chiropractors here at Boggs Chiropractic, I am especially tuned into how yoga can help enhance the well-being of our patients here. This month (June 2025) I’ll be focusing specifically on stretching those hams and glutes and creating space where it’s needed, working in tandem with your doctors to help reduce lower back pain, but also begin providing all those other benefits we hope you see from yoga, like improved sleep quality, reduced stress levels, and enhanced health and well-being across the board.

Join us Tuesdays this month at 6:15pm for a 60 minute Gentle Level 1 Yoga Flow for just $10 per class! This is a special introductory rate for the month of June that you’ll want to take advantage of! Click HERE! and scroll to the class or classes you wish to take and register! I can’t wait to practice with you!

Yours for better health... Persephone Agricola, Yoga Teacher
